Why Two Kids Stopped Coming to Kid's Korner
Last month, our Program Manager, Kristen, shared a story with me that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. After sitting with it for weeks, I finally decided to record a short video message to share what’s been on my heart.
This story is a powerful reminder of just how much our words matter—and how even well-meaning misinformation can carry unintended consequences, especially for the children and families we serve. At The Giving Plate, we work hard to remove shame from food insecurity and to correct the narrative that hunger is only a problem for our houseless neighbors.
