SALMON RUN 2024

Dust off your running shoes, and RUN FOR HUNGER this April 20, 2024.

Choose from a 5k, 10k, or half marathon. The Giving Plate is the new annual beneficiary of this local run put on by Lay It Out Events. Click on the image below to go to the race website and sign up. Milo’s Hike for Hunger

Five-year-old Bend, Oregon boy hikes South Sisters to feed hungry children in his community in August 2019 and raises $2,229 and feeds 1,115 children through The Giving Plate’s Backpacks for Bend program.

 
 

100+ Women Who Care award The Giving Plate $20,600

100+ Women Who Care Central Oregon (100+WWCCO) is a member-based, grass-roots organization of women who meet quarterly to make a difference in Central Oregon though collective $100 donations to the voted upon nonprofit at their meetings.

Their 2019 second quarter combined donations amounted to $20,600 for The Giving Plate, a food bank that feeds the hungry today with compassion and hospitality. 

“It so heartwarming to see that our members have raised more than $480,000 for area non-profits since 2014, including our recent donation to The Giving Plate,” says Lisa Connors, founder of 100+WWCCO. “The power of smaller donations combined into one large gift makes a huge impact in our community.”

 “We are incredibly grateful to have been chosen by the 100+ Women Who Care group,” says Ranae Staley, executive director for The Giving Plate. “The funding we received will allow us to add a new key employee to our team, which will position us to continue to grow to meet the needs of food-insecurity in Central Oregon.”

The Giving Plate wins $12,000 at Leadership Bend Impact Summit 2018

On May 1st, 2018 The Giving Plate and four other Central Oregon non-profits earned the opportunity to speak at the 2018 Leadership Bend Impact Summit for a chance to win $12,000 or an audience award of $2,500.

The audience award went to In Our Backyard, an organization committed to ending human trafficking.  The grande prize went to The Giving Plate.  The $12,000 will fund the purchase of a new commerical grade fridge and freezer, and it will help purchase food for youth experiencing food insecurity in Central Oregon.
