Important Information:

  • On your first visit, it is requested that you bring proof of residence, if you have it.

  • We will help anybody in need the first time they visit, regardless of where they live. For ongoing support, our current areas of service are: Bend, La Pine, Sunriver, Tumalo, Sisters, and Prinville. If you live in these areas you may receive one food box per calendar month. You are welcome to come in any day we are open to get bread products and pastries, as they are available.

  • No proof of income is required to receive food assitance. You will be asked to sign USDA paperwork self-declaring that your household income is at or below the Federal Poverty Line (Find current USDA income guidelines here)

  • Children are welcome to come into Kid's Korner any day we are open and "shop" to fill their own lunch bags. Children must be present to receive food.

Parking is available in the front parking lot. Please don’t park in front of the Animal Emergency Hospital.

HOW SEVERE IS THE NEED FOR FOOD RELIEF IN CENTRAL OREGON?

In Deschutes County, 11.9% of our population is food insecure with an alarming 1 in 5 children experiencing food insecurity (Per 2017 Feeding America Statistics). Over 4,400 individuals are unemployed in Bend alone, according to a survey in February 2019.

Kid’s Korner

Children, 0-18, are welcome to visit Kid’s Korner any day we are open. Children must be present to receive food, and parent supervision is appreciated.

Where does the Food Come From?

Some food is donated by local businesses and individuals (see our grantors and local food providers here). Bend Food Project is another key community partner that helps us keep our shelves full through bi-monthly food collections. They are always looking for people to join them as Neighborhood Coordinators. Learn more HERE. Each week, food is purchased and donated from food bank providers such as NeighborImpact and the Oregon Food Bank. Lastly, The Giving Plate purchases fresh produce, protein, eggs and dairy from local grocers on a weekly basis.

Who Qualifies To Receive Food?

Families and individuals who are earning an income below the Federal Poverty Line (click here to learn more about the FPL) and those experiencing homelessness.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP FOOD FOR ME?

It is best if you can come to pick up food yourself. If you are unable to come, please call and ask for a program director to document who you will be having pick up your food for you. We need a verbal authorization prior to allowing someone to access food on your behalf.
